Senior tri-captains Abby Manning, Skyler Amirault, and Laney McGoff have been solid leaders for the Herons. “She's our main go-to player right now, but she’s also very unselfish with the basketball and adjusted to her new teammates right away.” The other teams know about her now, but she still finds ways to score and is great defensively. “Johnny’s a strong ball-handler and she’s wise beyond her years. She’s a traditional point guard, but she also can play the ‘2’ or even down in the post if we need her to,” McCall said. “Johnny’s an all-everything type of a basketball player. Tompkins looks like she’ll be a player to watch for some time to come. She leads the league with 18.2 points per game, including two times when she’s scored 33 points in a contest. Tompkins’ impact has been immediate as the team rocketed in their progression this season. The returning players from last season’s team have had another season to develop their skills and the addition of eighth-grade guard Johnny Tompkins has changed the team’s fortunes dramatically.
